On Sunday 16 first-round qualifying matches of the Astra Coffee & More Open 2026 were played on the AZS courts in Poznań. Poles won nine of them. The longest match of the day was decided only in the deciding tie-break, at 12-10.

Two matches in three sets, one without dropping a game
Only two of the sixteen matches needed a deciding tie-break. The longest battle was between Szymon Karpiński and Przemysław Sioda: Karpiński took the first set 6-4, dropped the second 1-6 and settled the match only at 12-10. Kevin Pabisiak also needed three sets against Mikołaj Borkowski – more on that match below.
At the other end of the day was Sebastian Truszczyński, representing Switzerland, who did not concede Mario Nicolas Alarcon a single game. Filip Kosiński came close, dropping just two games to Adam Dąbrowski (6-2, 6-0), as did Maciej Matuszczyk, who won the first set against Elias Barth 6-0 and the match 6-0, 6-3.
Borkowski's tenth appearance
Mikołaj Borkowski, the player with the longest span of appearances in the history of the Poznań tournament – he has been playing here since 2005 – ended his tenth appearance in the first round. Against Kevin Pabisiak he won the first set 6-4 and forced a tie-break in the second, but lost it 5-7. The match was decided by the deciding-set tie-break, which went Pabisiak's way 10-4. The final score was 4-6, 7-6(5), 10-4.
Borkowski was given his place in this year's qualifying at the last moment, after withdrawals from the entry list. Twenty-one years have passed since his first appearance in Poznań.
Wild cards
Three of the seven wild-card holders are still in the qualifying draw. Jan Werbliński won an all-wild-card duel with Karol Romer, Norbert Zieliński advanced by walkover, and Wojciech Marek starts the tournament in the second round. Adam Dąbrowski, Maksymilian Domański, Karol Romer and Marco Antonio Inga Huauya are out.
Monday: 32 players, 16 matches
In the second round the nine Poles and seven foreign winners of Sunday's matches are joined by sixteen players who had a bye in the first round. Among them the highest-ranked player in the entire qualifying draw – Malaysia's Darrshan Suresh, ranked 44th on the ITF list – as well as Americans Alex Finkelstein and Michael Savano, Greece's Evangelos Kypriotis, Italy's Leonardo Iemmi and Finland's Peetu Pohjola. The second-round field is made up of 18 Poles and 14 foreign players.
Play starts at 10:00 on four courts.
